Red Valley Saddle Club General Rules

The Red Valley Saddle Club follows all of the rules of the Mid-Western Ontario Horsemans Society with the following exceptions :

1. Exhibitors are not allowed to run through the gate in Speed Classes. The RIDER must be at the gate post before the horse is considered to be in the ring. The Red Valley Saddle Club will appoint a Speed Class Official to police this rule.

2. All riders in the Leadline Class must wear properly fitted Safety Helmets. They must have their feet in stirrups and be able to sit in the saddle unassisted. It is not mandatory that the contestants jog - that is left up to the discretion of the judge.

3. All riders 12 years of age and under without exception must wear properly fitted Safety Helmets while on a horse or pony the grounds

4. Exhibition Runs at a frequency of 3 times per horse per day will be allowed at the club shows. The Cost will be $3 / class (no fee for Jr Bs). Regarding the Open Shows, we will follow the Mid Western Rule (3 yrs and Under). The fee here will be $2 per class. The exhibitor is asked to remove his/her exhibitor number.

5. In order to be eligible for year end awards you must exhibit in the class a minimum of three times (see Point system rules)

6. We will allow JrB Speed Event Participants to be lead into the ring. If the pony is lead or assisted through the course, it will then be counted as an exhibition run only.

7. One person ONLY to be mounted at any time on an equine animal anywhere on the showgrounds. A warning will be issued, a second infraction may result in diciplinary action.

8. Any rider and mount not found to be under control and ridden safely anywhere on the grounds, including the show ring itself, may be asked to remove themselves from the show grounds.

9. Day memberships may be purchased at the last show ONLY. The cost is $20 per Family and $15 for a Single. With a Day Membership you are not entitled to a Newsletter, nor to collect Points towards Year End Awards.

10. Exhibitor Numbers are not mandatory in Speed Events.

11. Showmanship exhibitors are allowed to show in either English or Western attire, but must use a halter and a leadshank.

12. All major rule changes should be done at the Annual General Meeting. If a situation arises during the year all Executive and Directors must be contacted. Any changes will require a 2/3 majority.

13. Jr B exhibitors may use 2 hands on the reins in all Jr B classes, regardless of the bit used.
